Add media sub type?
« on: June 11, 2010, 03:22:45 pm »

Starting to get frustrated...

On import, my video files are given a 'media type' = video... fine... Now, I want to assign a 'media sub type' that is not in the predefined list.

How do I add a sub type to the allowable values? When I manage library fields, the acceptable values for the 'media sub type' field is greyed out so I can't add...

Unfortunately, you can't. You can, however, create a custom field for recording media sub types without the restriction (or with your own restriction). I don't use Media Sub Type, and haven't noticed any ill effects. I'm not sure what the program uses the field for, but I suspect most, if not all those things can be done just as well with a custom field.

Select a couple of audiobooks.  Choose Tag.  If Media Sub Type isn't shown in the view you have, click on the little box in the upper left of the tag window and add it.  One of the types is audiobook.
