Files Not Being Added To Library
« on: June 15, 2010, 10:01:16 pm »

I have several folders where some of the MP3 files located in the folder were not being imported into my library. I thought that to remedy this I would remove the folder from the library and reimport. The Ignore Previously Deleted files option is not checked however the files I removed from the library will not get readded.

I have even tried to import the single folder that I removed and it still will not import the MP3s contained.

How can I ensure that all files get imported into the library?

Thanks

Hi,

Are all the files or just some of the files in the folder being ignored by MC? If all the files are being ignored I'd try putting the files into another folder and under a folder that is being imported, just to test it out. If only some of the files in the folder are being ignored, I'd take a close look at the ignored files, extensions in particular to see if something is wrong with their names. Do you have some kind of folder hiding program or the like, if so the folder may be invisible to MC.

Another thought, have you imported mp3s from other folders, or just flacs, wmas, etc. If the latter, you may not have checked mp3 under file type.

It is only some files.

For example - in one folder there are 23 MP3 files and only 21 of them got imported. The other 2 are legit files and can be played in MC but do not get imported. What I ended up doing was moving the entire folder to another location and then moving back and reimporting and this time all 23 files got imported.  This is happening in a number of folders and I am not sure what is causing it.

I thought maybe it had something to do with the length of the path but that could not be the case otherwise they would not get imported even after a move

It has me baffled.

It is an odd problem.

Somethings you might try looking at if you're into problem solving: See if the non-imported files have anything in common that's different from the others, including tag stuff, bit rate, unusal characters, or something that might make MC think that they've already been imported.

You might also consider re-installing, after a reboot. Use something like revo-uninstaller, (I think that's the name, it's free and let's you uninstall more thoroughly than Windows--just make sure you don't delete your backups).
