Splicing music using Media Editor
« on: April 06, 2003, 04:56:33 am »

I am trying to cut/splice a peice of music using the Media Editor.  I have found this tool to be very useful and fun to use.  There was only one problem that I found while using it and was wondering if someone could answer a question for me.  I am trying to cut a portion of the song and I need it to begin and end on a specific note.  Trying to use the mouse and getting the exact place in the music has been hard to do because the second numbers jump around quite a bit that way.  How can I edit the actual start and end numbers manually? or can I?   ?

Try zooming in first.  It will give you better control.

I've found TotalRecorder to be great for this kind of thing. It makes it really easy to place the start and end points of a selection exactly where you want them so that you can cut out just what you want. One feature of note is buttons that bump the beginning and end of the selection forward and back in as small as 0.1 second intervals.

Not free, but worth the price, in my opinion.
