Upgrade pricing strategy
« on: August 16, 2010, 10:13:59 am »

Hello,

It's a great software and it is good that to keep it improving.
I just question your upgrade pricing strategy, Do you plan to have a kind of unlimited version license, or a special upgrade price for those who every year buy a new upgrade, or something after 2 or 3 upgrade the next one is free...

You can get a discount if you've bought before.  The current upgrade price is $26.98, where the full price is $49.98.

Concerning a lifetime license, the short answer is "no".  Here's why.

It takes a strong team of people to keep current with so many changes in digital media.  They enjoy being paid from time to time.

But you could stay with MC13 or MC14 for a long time if price was the biggest concern.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have to have the latest version to get the upgrade price.

For instance, if you didn't get MC14, but do have MC13, you can still get the upgrade price if you want to get 15. I think even MC12 is eligible to upgrade to MC15 for the upgrade price.

That's correct, all the way back to Media Jukebox 8.
