Media Center 15.0.122 -- Available Here
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:30:31 pm »

This is the latest version of MC 15.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

http://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/MediaCenter150122.exe

15.0.122 (9/28/2010)

1. Fixed: Thumbnails would not work when a user's application data folder resided on a UNC path.
2. Fixed: Camera acquisition was not working from some types of cameras (WIA).
3. Fixed: Double-clicking an image in a mixed image + audio playlist when the image was at the end could cause a playback error message to be shown.
4. Changed: Improved support for renaming and moving files using a Portable Install.
5. Fixed: Changed how Flickr uploader sends keywords to the server to (hopefully) fix a problem with an extra keyword being added.
6. Changed: Moving a folder with drag-n-drop in the My Computer area of the tree no longer renames on collisions (letting the system rename could cause broken links for moved files).
7. Fixed: Multi-threaded access of input plugins at import time could cause a crash.
8. Changed: DLNA video flag changes for Sony TV and Blu-Ray. May help others as well. Required advanced option "MPEG video mimetype override".

15.0.121 (9/28/2010)

Internal testing builds.

15.0.120 (9/28/2010)

Internal testing builds.

15.0.119 (9/27/2010)

1. Changed: Theater View's default audio 'Recent Albums' view sorts tracks by track number inside an album instead of date imported. (only changes for fresh install or if Theater View views are reset in Options > Theater View)
2. Fixed: A fullscreen detached display could not be restored (only applies to build 118).
3. Fixed: Renamed WASAPI outputs to more compact names: "WASAPI" and "WASAPI - Event Style".
4. Fixed: The about box link for JRiver was broken.
5. NEW: Added support for M3U8 playlists (both to File > Export Playlist, and also to import).
6. Faster: Improved the performance of the program when running in a language other than English.
7. Changed: When doing a sync with Google using Notes, failures are listed in the results popup.
8. Fixed: The mc2xml link in TV > Load Program Guide was broken.
9. Changed: Added more video types to DLNA protocol info for the DLNA server.

15.0.118 (9/24/2010)

1. Changed: Double-clicking a single list file in a grouped list will play the grouping instead of the entire list / entire library (starting at the double-clicked file).
2. Fixed: Searching with the search window could crash (only applies to build 117).
3. Changed: When editing in the Tag Action Window, edits happen on top of (instead of on a line below) the clicked value.
4. NEW: Editing long values in the Tag Action Window extends the edit when necessary outside the bounds of the Tag window.
5. Changed: When in-place editing (Tag Action Window or lists), drop lists will size to fit the current text instead of the widest text of any choice in the drop list (since the drop list opens wider than the edit when necessary).
6. Changed: When zooming in on images during image playback, the aspect ratio will remain fixed during animation.
7. NEW: Detached Display has a right-click option 'Hide Borders'.
8. NEW: When writing tags for podcasts, will also write iTunes proprietary tags so the podcast will show up in the right category in iTunes or on an iPod when used with the File->Export to iTunes and iPhone function.
9. Fixed: MPEG override switch in DLNA server options was not working properly.

15.0.117 (9/23/2010)

1. Changed: When showing a purchase or restore page, the default web browser is used instead of always using IE.
2. Changed: Plurals of field names are now included in the translation file.
3. Changed: Updated all translation files to include latest language from the source code.
4. Changed: Similar artist view in Performer store is populated on demand.
5. Changed: Improvements in Wikipedia artist/album lookups.

15.0.116 (9/21/2010)

1. Faster: Image framework flood filling system uses MMX assembly for faster filling.
2. Faster: Numerous small image framework optimizations resulting in slightly faster rendering.
3. Changed: New notes are no longer added to 'Recently Imported'.
4. Fixed: When streaming a WAV from a Media Network server, the header would not be correct until conversion finished, causing playback errors on some devices.
5. Fixed: Uncompressed WAV did not work properly when selected as a Library Server client conversion option.
6. NEW: Added support for L16 (uncompressed little endian PCM) so Media Center works nicer when playing from DLNA servers that provide this format.
7. Changed: Allow conversion to WAV in the DLNA server (in addition to L16). Some renderers like this better (i.e. the popcorn).
8. Changed: DLNA server, set L16 converted files to seekable as well as transcoded (transcoded flag is required by some renderers.

15.0.115 (9/20/2010)

1. Faster: More big optimizations to core libraries -- database benchmarks about 20% faster, many other areas of the program also faster.
2. Fixed: Thumbnails were not updating properly after rotating images.

15.0.114 (9/17/2010)

1. Faster: Huge speedup to core database -- benchmarks about 12% faster than v113.
2. Faster: Thumbnail style library views load faster.
3. Fixed: Using Ctrl+F from Playing Now while playing could result in the search box losing focus.
4. Fixed: Netflix thumbnails in Theater View were not always working nicely.
5. Changed: Netflix box art is now high resolution.
6. Changed: Improved Wikipedia data for Performer store.
7. Fixed: Netflix queue wasn't showing TV episodes.
8. Fixed: DLNA server, subtitles for LG Blu-Ray (and probably others). Requires DLNAExtra and Present Subtitle resources set in advanced options as well as having the corresponding .srt or .sub file named the same as the original movie in the same folder as the original movie.
9. Fixed: DLNA server, was crashing on WDTV when "present subtitle resources is set". Note the WDTV still won't display subtitles on non-transcoded video files.

iTunes playlist sync crashes MC 15.0.122
« Reply #1 on: September 28, 2010, 07:58:59 pm »

Sync playlist to iTunes causes a crash.  The last version (.118) did as well.  Sometimes the error comes instantly upon trying to sync, sometimes it happens after iTunes opens.  It happens on any playlist, smartlist, whatever.

The error says "Media Center has encountered a problem..."  It's the standard Windows error dialog.  When I try to quit iTunes, it tells me that scripts are still trying to use iTunes.  MC has already been shut down by the crash, so I guess part of the SDK is still left running?

A crash problem was fixed in this build (122).  Please try it.

Hi,

Back with my SV8 MPC. MC 15.0.122 still crash while importing :'(

My MPC library was made with Easy CD DA Extractor (encoder is MusePack v1.15), I used Musepack SV8 tools to convert it all to SV8.

Cannot tell you more for debugging :(

Thanks for your work ! :)

MC15 is now the perfect player. :D

Thanks again for the ultra quick response to adding m3u8 support.

Take a look at the link called "stability" in my signature.  It's possible there is something else going on.

Autocomplete in in-place editing is not working or am I missing something?  Besides music and video, I am also managing my ebooks in MC and a couple of (custom) fields have a couple of hundred of values in them. You can only imagine what it's like to scroll up and down trying to find the desired value when tagging. Autocomplete was working fine in v14. Are there plans to add autocomplete to v15 as well? If not, I will go back to v14 as this is really a deal-killer for me--i am a bit of a tag maniac   :)

TIA

Please start a thread with more details.  When I edit in-place, it auto-completes as I type.  If there are multiple hits for what you're typing, it won't auto-complete until there's only one match.

Thanks.

This feature would be more logical for me if it would be triggered by double clicking the group header.

The playlist sync crashes in 122 and 118.  It crashed in 118, and once I saw the update I downloaded 122, but still no luck.

Please start a new thread on this.

My first guess is that you have some security software that is blocking MC.

Fadeout on stop requires a working volume control.

Try "Internal" volume if you don't have a system volume.  Also, you may need to reduce the buffering in Options > Audio > Output mode settings... so volume changes take effect more quickly.

It used to work on Application Volume, but not anymore. But it is working on Internal Volume though. Actually not sure what the difference is between those.

Analyze Audio now locking up part way through... noticed this the other day too... if I abort the program and restart, it tends to make it's way to the finish.

If I start an album in Theatre View and there's no internet connection active, MC crashes after a few seconds. No problem if it is in standard view, but if I switch to theatre view, after a while it crashes again. Maybe something happens when it fails to download the background images?
This is happening on a HTPC running Win XP that is not directly connected to the internet. It is connected via LAN to my work PC, which shares the internet connection.
I tried to reinstall some old builds I still have in my hard disk and found that 073 works, but 095, 101 and later builds all crash.

Antelope's new DAC, the Zodiac + touts native 192kHz over USB however it does not work with MC

192kHz WASAPI - send 24bit data on 32 bit package = YES = Playback Failure
192kHz WASAPI - send 24bit data on 32 bit package = NO = Playback with no sound
192kHz WASAPI EVENT - send 24bit data on 32 bit package = NO = Playback Failure
192kHz WASAPI EVENT - send 24bit data on 32 bit package = YES = Playback Failure

96kHz material works for ALL above settings.

Paul at Lynx reported Windows 7 may have a 192kHz WASAPI bug, not sure if this is it. Will try Foobar now.

I have two libraries I use on my Laptop, one is the music located on the laptop's hard-drive, the second is the music located on my USB expansion drive.

Problem: When I switch libraries the option continues to show the location of the music (Import folder) from the last library rather than the one assigned to the particular library chosen.

example:
Laptop Library = music files on C:\Music
Expansion Library = music files on E:\music
(Both Libraries are located in the default location on the C drive with the MC program files)

Why does this information not remain in place for each library?
I do not feel it should need to be repaired each time I switch libraries.

If I edit an Image with Media Center it removes and does not replace the thumbnail.  I cannot get the thumbnail back without deleting and reimporting.

I think this has been a problem for a while on MC15, but is definitely working fine in 14.
