Switch sound to another zone
« on: October 23, 2010, 02:43:53 am »

It will be fantastic to have ability to switch sound to another zone. The story: I have two zones, one with WASAPI exclusive for bitstream and another one with DS plus DSP settings. Now I have to stop track, sync playing now between zones, toggle zone and then restart playing. What I want is to have one simple command that will do this for me by hotkey plus restart track from the place that it was interrupted on prev. zone.
Thanks in advance!

i always thought that that would be a nice idea, i like to switch to my headphone zone. but it is doable now without stopping playback. in playing now drag one zone to the other. both zones will playback the same with a small silence but continuing the music. now when you want to stop the first zone unlink (rightclick on link) and stop the first zone. that is how i switch between speakers and headphone zone.

bit more work then a hotkey, but still.

edit.. i was just thinking.. maybe there are mcc commands for linking and unlinking.. then it could be done with a bat file=hotkey. if the coffee starts working ill take a look, that would be sweet.
edit 2.. was an important typo in the post... and there are no mcc commands for so that is a pity. there is something in the automation to link zones, but not to unlink them.

Gappie's scenario doesn't works for me. Sound stops after stopping it in zone with WASAPI exclusive.

i tested a bit, it seems to work for me all the time, with two soundcards, or sending it to other channels on the same card using asio and direct sound. im sorry, i have no wasapi.
but could it be that the wasapi and the direct sound zones are pointing to the same soundcard. in that case, as far as i understand wasapi exclusive, that is the behaviour to expect. wasapi exclusive will handle only one of the two at the same time.. i think.
so then the switching i use would not work. cant think of an other way.
