All my .mov files playback showing a still image with sound
« on: November 10, 2010, 07:02:28 am »

Hi, recently I've found that trying to play back .mov files is only displaying a still image of the video with sound.

Other video files play back normally (avi, mkv, dvd, etc.).

This worked fine in the past and I'm not sure what I had changed that caused this problem.

I've tried using CCCP and K-Lite codec packs with the same results.

Any ideas? I did a search in the forum and didn't get any hits.

Regards,
Kwake

Probably a DirectShow configuration problem.  Try the Wiki article on DirectShow.

MOV files need either a DirectShow File Splitter (provided by QuicktimeAlternative) or you need to use "real" Quicktime to render them in MC.  CCCP and/or K-Lite alone do not provide the splitter that you need to properly play back MOV files via DirectShow.

Quicktime Alternative did the trick, thanks glynor!
