How to reinstall Theater View?
« on: November 20, 2010, 10:22:26 am »

Yikes! I've accidentally uninstalled the Theater View plugin  :-[. How can I get it back?

Thanks in advance!

I think you can just reinstall the latest build of Media Center 15.

And for anyone that doesn't know, you can always use 'Express' mode in the installation when doing an upgrade.

Hmmm.... no dice. I tried re-installing the program using both Express and Custom, but Theater View remains missing.
When I go to the Plugin Manager, I see the button to Add Plugins (and then browse for the appropriate file), but I can't see any files that look like they would be related to Theater View. Which file(s) comprise the Theater View plugin? I can try copying them from another computer if I know which ones they are.

Also, I'm sure uninstalling the program, then reinstalling would probably work, but I don't want to lose my carefully chosen settings. So I'm hesistant to do that if another way can be found.

You won't, so long as you don't enable that option when you uninstall.  Follow the uninstall process carefully.  There's one checkbox for the settings and one for the library.

And Theatre View is part of the program, not a plugin. It should be available if selected at Options - General - Features.

It is both.  It also shows up in the Plugin Manager.

Really? I don't see a separate DLL, and it doesn't seem to be associated with any process other than Media Center 15.exe. The Plugin Manager includes Theater View Plugins (News and Weather), but not a Theater View plugin.

Maybe you've tried, but try Tools/Options/General/Features.

You're right.  I thought you could select the top-level Theater View item in the Plugin Manager and uninstall it, which is what happened to this poor soul.  I was wrong.

Probably that the option is disabled, as suggested.
