MC's inbuilt update feature
« on: November 25, 2010, 01:43:18 pm »

Hi al,

Does the update feature actually work? I have never been able to update without downloading a new full installer.

In addition, wouldn't it be a great idea if the MC updater would simply download the required changed files, rather than downloading the whole installer package. This should save a bit of time and bandwidth.

You could read the wiki article called "Upgrades".

New builds are always full builds, not just changes.  Bandwidth most places is cheap.  Sorry if yours isn't.

Under windows 7, I've been having problems with the package installer.  It seems to download the updates, but fails to install.  I log on as administrator to do this.  Is there somthing I should check?

You can just download and install the latest version manually.

The download page has the 'stable' release and Interact may contain a slightly newer, but less tested, version.
