Transfering MC15 from Drive on dead motherboard PC
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:46:23 am »

I am a registered user of MC15.  The motherboard on my old PC died.  I have removed the 2 drives and can see them on my newly purchased PC.  I have to put the two old drives in an IDE to USB 2.0 bridge enclosure, one by one, but have been able to copy off other files like Outlook .pst etc.  My old system was XP, now I have Windows 7

How can I re-install MC15 on the new PC but make sure I keep my playlists,  library etc from the version on my old PC?  I don't want to start until I get some advice here.

Thank you.

When I have had similar needs, I do as follows:

- install a fresh copy of MC from this board & reinstall the licence
- copy the library back-up files from your old harddrive - the default folder name is .... \Media Center 15\Library Backups
- restore this library
- this should give you all your playlists and most settings. You will most likely need to change the drive / path references to your media files.

Good luck!

We've had a lot of fried motherboards recently.
