New to MC15 - questions about PS3 & TiVO HD
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:21:44 am »

I've been searching for a solution that enables me to store our DVD collection digitally and share that with 2 TiVo HD devices and a PS3.  I have tried WHS with PS3 Media Server and TiVo Publisher, it was a little cumbersome though.  Thank goodness for the 30 day trial and virtual machines!

For DVD's, I've ripped some of my collection to MP4 using DVDFab and for TiVo files I have stripped them of the .tivo format so they are an MPG now.

So I have MC15 up and running and ran in to a few issues I can't find a solution for here (wrong search terms?) or in the Wiki.
  • PS3 can not see video
  • PS3 can see the folders for MP3's, but there is no data in there to play/stream
  • TiVo can not see video, but can see pictures and MP3's

I locked the TiVo server to port 8070 and enabled a rule in the firewall for TCP 8070 inbound and outbound.  I am not certain of the PS3 server settings.

Network and PC info:
  • Wireless N (low band) w/ Netgear WNR3500
  • TiVo HD #1 is on wireless N adapter
  • TiVo HD #2 is currently wired (moving to wireless when it is relocated)
  • PS3 is connected via wireless G
  • MC15 is running on my Win7 64bit machine w/ ample cpu and memory

Did you set the DLNA Server in MC?  I believe that PS3 is one of the settings.  Further changes for PS3 are coming in a future version of MC.

I don't think our Tivo Server will serve video.  It's been a while.

I'll take another look at the PS3 settings.  I'll have to try running TiVo Desktop next to MC15 to share the same content to them.

Thanks!
