Problem Ripping (Used to Work Fine) (Fixed!)
« on: January 24, 2011, 06:21:32 pm »

Any reasons why MC13 no longer rips my cds but other rippers will? Details:

Using same drive (i.e. the one in my computer)
Read speed set to 4X;
Ripping single long (60 minute) track CDA or multiple track CD to MP3 @ 256 kbps;
Process fails at about 85%;
Encode while ripping disabled;
No other apps running;
HD defragmented;
Ran cleaning CD in drive;
Have had no problems ripping before;
CDs that will not rip will play fine on same drive.

Hints anyone?

Try uninstalling the other rippers.

MC13 hasn't changed for a while.

All I had was MC 13. When this problem came up a few days ago, I obtained a free ripper to use until I found out where my problem was.

Try ripping to uncompressed wave just to rule out an encoder problem.
Did you say you are ripping a single 60 minute audio track or did I misunderstand?

That's right - ripping a single long track.

Does it only fail with the long track, or do normal length tracks fail as well?
Have you tried going to uncompressed wave?

I just successfully ripped a multi-track cd to uncompressed wave format.

I think you're right - that the drive is on its way out - but I haven't done enough testing yet to verify it.
