I have tried the trial version and like the program but have some questions before I buy it
#1 when and why do I need to re register and if I buy thr program why do I only get 10
#2 the search function for the album tracks when recording dose not appear to work on the trail version unless you do more than type in the artist and hit search
#3 why can I not contact j river to get information about the program

1.  You get ten restores per year.  If you run out, just ask.

You only re-register if you rebuild your computer or buy a new computer.  If you run out of restores, you can post here and we'll reset them.

#2 the search function for the album tracks when recording dose not appear to work on the trail version unless you do more than type in the artist and hit search

The search box at the top right of the program will search artist, album, name, genre, and any other field configured as a 'Default Search Field'.  You can tell the program to search other fields by default in Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields.  If you're trying to do fancy searches, you might explore Smartlists.

#3 why can I not contact j river to get information about the program

JRiver staff (myself included) read and post on this forum every day.  But the other users, who are often incredibly knowledgeable, are what makes this place really neat.

The search function I am trying to use is to add the track and album information with the internet search function  when recording an album with the advance tools. I tried various artist including the Beatles and recieved a no information found message

The online track lookup uses the audio fingerprint, and may not match for line-in recordings.

You'll get the best automatic track data when ripping CDs.

I love the program so much I purchased it yesterday and read in the forum that v16 is in beta. Will I have to pay an upgrade fee for the new version when it is released?
