1. NEW: MC supports Set Top Box television channels.
2. NEW: New latency system for 'ASIO' and 'WASAPI - Event Style' audio outputs that makes VideoClock require fewer and smaller audio rate adjustments (audio and video sync is typically maintained within 2 milliseconds, with about 0.0001 audio rate variation once sync is established).
3. NEW: MC supports Camera type "television channel".  A user can manually add a "channel" that corresponds to a webcam device.
4. Fixed: Typing in other programs (and maybe other operations) while madVR was in use could be sluggish.
5. Fixed: The low-pass and high-pass filters in the 'Parametric Equalizer' could fail to work properly in some cases.

1. Changed: During image playback, the image edges have a subtle fade-out to make a smoother looking Pan & Zoom effect, and also to remove edge sparkle that can occur with some video drivers.
2. Changed: When grabbing the volume or position slider on the player at the top of fullscreen Display View, the player will not be hidden when the mouse leaves the window until the grab is released.
3. Changed: Renamed video smoothing feature in Options > Video to 'VideoClock (smooths video by adjusting audio)'.

3. NEW: Netflix thumbnail and list views in Theater View now report whether titles have been "instant viewed" before and detail view shows the date and percentage of last viewing if file info panel is reset.

1. Changed: Refined how some Quicktime file types are routed to different playback engines.  Fixes mixed m4a, mp3 playback issues.
2. Changed: Reduced to one the number of UAC prompts that pop up when video conversion is performed for the first time.
3. Fixed: There was no progress message when downloading and installing DirectShow filters for m4a files.
4. NEW: DSP plugins can report their internal latency, providing better audio quality when doing audio rate adjustment during video playback.
5. NEW: Last.fm submitter maintains a queue of submissions instead of a single submission so when there's no internet or Last.fm is having problems, there is no performance impact on the program and Scrobbles don't get dropped.
6. Changed: When auto-import folder watching encounters problems, it tries to reopen watches a few times and then gives up if there are continued errors (hopefully fixes issue when resuming from standby while watching certain network shares).

I am using MC16 to stream to my J River ID device. When playing, the temporary files generated after converting the audio to an MP3 stream are being automatically imported into the library. Various tagging errors are generated when playback stops.

"Automatically import files when played" option is turned off and I have ensured that the temp folder is not in Auto Import.

I verified that this behaviour was not present in MC15.

Bump  - any feedback on this?

Gizmo gets several improvements when used with v16:
* Better search
* Faster browsing
* Scrobbling and play stats
* Improved video support

If you're having trouble, double-check your server settings.  Only run v16 or v15, not both at once.  Start a thread if you stay stuck.

I have a problem with playing video files. No matter which video config I use, the first time I play a file, it all works fine. If I stop that and start a new video, however, I always get:

DirectShow: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Code = 0x80070020

This happens no matter which two videos I choose, so I know it's not a problem with the video file.

In order to play back another video, I need to kill all MC-related processes.

The problem happens with both 16.0.31 and 16.0.32.

Starting Problem with Media Center 16.0.32  ?

I updated to MC16 a few hours ago. At the end of the insallation the MC startet correct.
I closed it.
Now I tried to start it again and got this warning:

(Media Center has been installed for a different operating system. Install Media Center again.)

I only can close this warning. MC16 didn't start

Fixed it: 

For a normal install, the version of the OS is in the registry here:
HKLM\Software\JRiver\Media Core\Installations\Media Center 16

For Windows 7, you should see:
OS Version: 10

But the installer wrote 7.
I changed it with regedit to 10 and now it works fine.

There is a problem with DLNA device discovery in 16.0.031.  DLNA devices are very slow to show up in the Playing Now list.  The Roku Streaming Player shows up right away but you can't stream to it (I wish we could hide it).  It then takes several minutes for my 2 Roku SoundBridges to show up.  I had to reboot the MiniHD to get it to show up and the MC ID never does show up.

I have also had times when the devices just start dropping off the list randomly.  They come back briefly every 30 seconds or so.

Starting Problem with Media Center 16.0.32  ?

I updated to MC16 a few hours ago. At the end of the insallation the MC startet correct.
I closed it.
Now I tried to start it again and got this warning:
Media Center wurde für ein anderes Betriebssystem installiert. Installieren Sie Media Center neu.
(Media Center has been installed for a different operating system. Install Media Center again.)

I only can close this warning. MC16 didn't start  :-
My operating system is Windows 7 Professional 32Bit

Fixed it:  

For a normal install, the version of the OS is in the registry here:
HKLM\Software\JRiver\Media Core\Installations\Media Center 16

For Windows 7, you should see:
OS Version: 10

But the installer wrote 7.
I changed it with regedit to 10 and now it works fine.

But why would Windows have run the installer in XP compatibility mode to begin with?  This will cause us trouble.

There is a problem with DLNA device discovery in 16.0.031.  DLNA devices are very slow to show up in the Playing Now list.  The Roku Streaming Player shows up right away but you can't stream to it (I wish we could hide it).  It then takes several minutes for my 2 Roku SoundBridges to show up.  I had to reboot the MiniHD to get it to show up and the MC ID never does show up.

I have also had times when the devices just start dropping off the list randomly.  They come back briefly every 30 seconds or so.

Make sure v15 and v16 aren't running at the same time.  And double-check your 'Media Network' options.

This hasn't been a common problem.  We have a lot of devices here in the office and we haven't seen a problem.

Did you manually choose a compatibility mode?  Did Windows ask you about it?  Do you have security software that might do this for you, to be helpful?

We've had a handful of users with this problem, but have never been able to reproduce it.  The manifest for the installer states that we fully support Windows 7, so I'm not sure why this would happen.

First sorry for my bad english, but I am already out of school some days (some decades).
I didn't manually choose a compatibility mode and there is no compatibility mode on the JR Media Center 16.exe on my W7 PCs. Neither Windows XP nor somthing else.
I have installed Norton Internet Security 2011 on all PCs. But I think that it's Windows 7 asking me after doubleclicking the installer:

On my W7 Professional Desktop I choose "Yes" and the result was a 7 in the registry.
On my Notebook with W7 Home Premium I choose "No" and the result was a correct 10 in the registry.

My Wife and I have more PCs (one with Windows XP Professional one with Windows HomeServer and several with W7 Home Premium) so if You want that we try out something, just write what You wish I do. I will install the new JRMC16 on the notebook and PC of my wife and our 3 HTPCs. Would be glad to help you.

When setting madVR as default renderer immediately after installation MC goes into a loop when trying to load a movie. Some searching revealed that ffdshow tried to confirm it was needed.

It was necessary to reset default renderer to something else, confirm ffdshow use, and reset to madVR. Setting Videoclock blocks loading of movie altogether. Just a black screen, no errors. One has to use taskmanager to kill MC.

Yes, it appears that the MC 15 services were still running after the upgrade.  I killed the services are re-ran MC16 and the Playing Now list is populated quickly and it is more stable than with MC 15.

You may have Media Server starting on Windows Startup for MC15.  Check your settings.

Play (with Play Doctor) is creating a playlist with a lot of duplicates (around 10-15 for 100 tracks), with the track used as seed having at least 5 duplicates every time.

Repeatable problem for me, but not sure why.  Media center shuts down unexpectedly during playback.  Quicktime.qts is the faulting module.  I have confirmed that I have the latest version of quicktime.

Maybe you installed CCCP with MC15?  See the DirectShow Guide on our Wiki for details.

Yeah, i'm certain now. I updated madVR from 0.36 to 0.39 and it works fine

I am using 16.0.39 on Windows 7 (64-bit) and every time I open the Netflix option the app crashes. There is a message saying Authorization and something about upgrading but it doesn't stay visible log enough for me to see the whole thing before a Windows message pops up saying the app crashed. I'm not sure what would need updating so unsure how to fix this - plus having the app crash seems a bit extreme.

Any ideas?
