Hi Randy, Jim,
thanks for your replies !
to Randy:
I cannot find anything under "File" -> "Library" - nothing like the manager I have in MC14
as to Jim:
I can see the "zone" concept by right clicking "playing now" - but this is not what I am looking for, or maybe I don't understand.
Maybe it's better I try to explain the way I use MC:
(nothing with Video, TV, DLNA, etc - I just use it for my audio files.)
I have a netbook with a big external harddisk as a music server - containing all "cleaned-up" files, running my Logitech/Sequeezebox server software.
I manage the files on the server by using a specified MC-Library - located on my "Main-PC".
In addition to that I have dedicated other libraries on that PC
1. for doing everything related with ripping and converting my own CDs
2. for cleaning and tagging all downloaded stuff
3. for handling local subsets of the "whole library" I re-import from the server to the main PC
I would really like to keep those libraries seperated - with the option for different settings, not having to handle all 200.000 + files on the server - so it's fast, containing only the files I work on currently. After shifting the "cleaned-up" files to the server they are gone from the local PC and gone from the dedicated libraries - keeping everything fast and simple and (most important) not interfering with any file on the server or the "main" library
And I am also in the driver's seat choosing the location where the libraries are located - not in anything deep hidden path like "C\users\ ..." (where you don't automatically know where), but on a dedicated hardisk for audio files in a folder on top of the tree, easy to access for a simple manual backup every now and then.
So for now I found a workaround - generating new libraries from scratch and copying all the files from the MC14 libraries manually into the new MC16 folders. But I am not sure if there might anything "go wrong" with this approach.
Anyway I cannot rename any of those new libraries, nor can I delete one.
I really, really would like to have the "old" library manager back.
Please let me know if I am missing something - or if I should think of a different approach.
I also have another wish for the next updates:
"Rename, Move & Copy" is automatically set to "Rename" which also means moving the files to a new location if boxes for directories are checked. I really would like to have an option in the setting section to choose "Copy" as the standard. Would this be possible ?
