This might help:

I have two libraries in MC15 (15.0.174). After install of 16.0.31, it imports my default library but not my other library. How can I import my other library easily?

1. In MC15, load your other library and create a new library backup file. (File > Library > Back Up Library...)

2. In MC16, Open the "add library" window:

3. Add a new empty library:

4. Restore the MC15 library backup file to this library (click the tree item to access the restore window):

You can also just point the new library to the old library location. Enter the path in "Library Location" box. (Make sure that you have a backup copy of the old library, just in case...)

Unfortunately you cannot delete or rename the new "Main Library" item (I hope this will change). You can just leave it unused or use it for testing new tricks without modifying your real library.

Edit: renaming is possible

I always listen when Alex B says something.  I feel really stupid that I never thought of this extremely simple workaround for the main library not being able to be moved (I believe it can be cleared and it can be renamed - at least on the tree).  It can't be deleted or moved.  By leaving it empty and renaming it to something like "don't use" and then having an "added" library called "Main," I think this solves my problem of wanting all my libraries in a folder other than the Roaming folder.  Thank you again, Alex B.

I vote for allowing the Main Library to be moved or bringing back the old Library Manager functionality.

My backup routines automatically backup all of my data daily and the Roaming folder, or wherever the Main Library is stored, is not part of this backup policy.

I have now tested what Alex B suggested.  It DOES allow the Main library to be in any specified folder.  I created the main library as normal in MC16.  Then I backed it up.  Then I cleared it and renamed it to "empty".  Then I added a library called "main" in the directory I wanted it.  Then restore the backed up main library.  My main library is now where I want it.  The only disadvantage is that there is an unused library names "empty" that sits at the top of the list of libraries.  Not much of a problem.

Oh you are correct. Apparently renaming is possible.

But why is the old Library Manager not there anymore? Why remove a useful function??

I'll speculate.

Even though I liked the library manager and have struggled a bit to understand library management in MC16, I find that most all of the functionality is there with MC16.  The main library cannot be moved or deleted in MC16, but I am not sure that adding the library manager back will necessarily fix that or is necessary to fix the inflexibility associated with the main library.

So, as much as I liked the library manager, I don't think it is really needed anymore.

Well, I do. I find it very annoying that I no longer have any control over where my libraries are, and now I have 4 library folders on my hard drive (in addition to the default MC library location) and the only way to see which one is active is to see when the files are recently changed in Explorer.

Also I only want ONE library, so that no one else using the computer accidentally chooses another active library causing a lot of frustration. It's amazing what someone not used to computers can f*** up in a few minutes, especially since some morons at Logitech failed to include an option to turn off the tap-to-click feature of the touchpad of my diNovo keyboard. And no, I'm not going to turn off my computer every time I have guests.

Someone mentioned you can see where the library is by hovering over it in the tree, but in my case, the library isn't in the tree, only Playing Now, Audio, Images, Video etc. and hovering those don't show any library location.

Please put the library manager back!!!

You can hover over the playing now where the library names are and it does show the path (unless it is too long to display)

You can see the active library from playing now or you to File>Library and the active library is checked.

Thanks. Under Playing Now you can at least right click to delete libraries, although it seems you can't delete the main library or the active library.

I'd still like the Library Manager back. Don't understand why they removed it in the first place!

Also a message to JRiver: When you remove parts of the program like this, update the Wiki right away!!! The Wiki still says "to open the library manager, go to...etc.". Nothing is more frustrating than user guides telling you to open menus that aren't there!

A wiki can be updated by anyone.

MC16 is still in beta.

Okay, I guess it makes sense to not update the wiki as long as v15 is still the official one on JRiver's download page.

But why was the library manager abandoned?

It has been integrated into the tree, under Playing Now.

Okay. Kinda hard to find if you don't know where to look, I think it was more intuitive the old way.
But it doesn't really matter where it is, the only thing I'm missing is the ability to edit or delete any library, including the default Main library, like I could in the old Library Manager.

Hi (1st time poster very long time user)

I really have to beg that you please put back the library manager. I use two library's when using J River.

1. For Everything
2. For specific music collections so that it filters out 50% of stuff when I'm using it to play specific music

Library Manager allowed me to name/rename the Library's easily and specify where they were located delete extra ones that i didn't want easily. I cant see an easy way to delete libraries now.

JR16.0.49 also has increased the library load time significantly when switching between library's .

It was talking about 7 Seconds on JR15. Now JR16 is taking about 21 seconds. (which is a long time for a library to load)

The other issue if found was when i did a Library restore it knocked out all of my Library's listed and i had to start again.

Sugestions?

You can still delete libraries by right click -> delete library, but not the default library nor the active one. If we were allowed delete/move the default library, we would have the same possibilities as the previous Library manager, if only a little less intuitive (in my opinion).
