Intelligent search issue
« on: March 01, 2011, 06:22:29 pm »

I like the new intelligent search in MC. But unfortunately there seems so be small bug (v16.0.39).

Here's how to reproduce it:

1. Press Ctrl+F to get the focus on the search dropdown list.
2. Type in part of the name of an artist existing in your library, e.g. "pink" for "pink floyd"
3. Select the suggested entry "Pink Floyd (Artist)" from the dropdown list and you'll get no results.

But this works fine for Genre, Album, etc...

I just tried - it works for me.  Wonder what is causing the issue?

I upgraded from MC v15 to v16 and took the old library which has been converted automatically to the new format. Maybe this causes the issue?

It shouldn't.

Can you determine any more rhyme or reason?  Do all artists fail, or just certain ones?  What if you don't accept the suggestion, does the view filter to Pink Floyd (plus other pink stuff)?

I probably found the reason. Looks like it is a localization issue:

I have set German as the default language.

The dropdown list of suggestions contains some entries with German words, e.g. "Pink Floyd (Künstler)" instead of "Pink Floyd (Artist)".

Obviously the reason why it works for Genre or Album is because the String within the bracket is the same e.g. "Rock (Genre)" is also called "Rock (Genre)" in German.

Would be great so have this fixed in the next version because the smart search is a very nice feature  :).
