WMP9 with MJ8
« on: April 05, 2003, 03:53:45 pm »

I have MJ Plus 8.0.896, which I use with Windows Millennium. When I attempt to listen to a radio station that uses Windows media, I receive a "Microsoft Media Player Warning," which states that the version of Microsoft Media Player cannot be determined. This, despite the fact that I have WMP9, non-beta.

Should I switch to Media Center, which supposedly does not have this problem, or will MJ8 be fixed fairly soon?

I have continued to ask about this problem, but so far, no one has deigned to answer, so I will ask once again:

Are there any plans to fix MJ8, so that it can play WMP9? This seems pretty basic, as currently, I am unable to stream Windows media.

On the top of this page it says, "Media Jukebox: The one that plays it all," but these words are beginning to sound quite hollow. . . .

I've answered this question twice before.  A search might help.

We've tested and cannot find a problem with WMP9 and MJ 8.0.394.

Make sure you are using the release version of WMP9 and not a beta version.

If you have a problem, we need more information.

I am using MJ8.0.896. Are you saying I should switch back to MJ8.0.894 to make this work?

As I said before, I'm using Windows Millennium, and have downloaded the new, non-beta version of WMP9. What other info do you need?

No...396 is 394 w/ one or two minor bug fixes. Stay with 396. It may have something to do with Millen Ed (weak OS not up to MS's usual standards).

MC is where it's at these days. Most people (at least the one's that hit the boards here) are running it now, so support (if necessary) is bountiful.

edit: ...and I haven't heard of this sort of problem with MC

Here's my system info:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.396
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Celeron 367 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 261 MB, Free - 109 MB
Resource Info: System - 56 %, GDI - 80 %, User - 56 %
OS: Microsoft Windows Me

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4916.400
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 5.50.4134.100
wnaspi32.dll: N/A

Does any of this help explain what's wrong?

edit: It sounds like the consensus is that MJ8 is faulty, and that I should switch to Media Center. Is that right?

well really, MJ8 was created before WMP9 was programed so there is some issues due to the changes in windows media player.

they have been working on MC9 for over 8 months or more.

MJ8 is really near a year old now.

YES

Can you rip/burn with MJ? Looking at your sys info shows that ASPI is not installed (which it needs to be for W9x systems). Hit the Adaptec site, DL and install ASPI ver 4.7.1.2. It won't (or shouldn't) help your current problem, though.
