Btw,

we should rename the plugins so that everyone can see for what display which plugin the right one is.

If not its the same how in the old original thread about the plugins, many rising version numbers but every second is in real for another type of display.

There is only one DLL. It supports both the VFD and the LCD display. I have no plans to add more. With no vendor support, it's a pain enough just to keep the one I have working.

Here is an update with scrolling for the VFD. Let me know if it works or not.

Short text is now centered in line, scrolling for long text now works!
Artist and title information are shown in first line, second line is emtpy. Room for the track duration  ;)

While playing around I noticed when I sent the system to standby or hibernate with MC and the plugin active, display is not coming back to life after waking up.
Playing a file then also leaves the display empty. Need to close and reopen MC to have the plugin working again.
It would be nice if that could be fixed, because I never completely shut down my HTPC because of faster boot times.

It looks like a bug in the iMon DLL. Try this workaround.

Seems to work for me when MC starts automatically after a Windows boot (it's my setup). Cannot see that window of helper program popping up and closing anymore and focus seems to be OK.
After resuming out of hibernate state I had the problem of lost focus in Theater View again, first resume after installing Version 15. But I need to check more deeply at the weekend if this may be caused by (or related to) another issue, because the following two times after resuming it was OK...
I will let you know!

Ok, your issue might not be plugin related then. I've had different issues resuming from sleep on mine for as long as I can remember. Sometimes, things work great. Other times, apps get jumbled around to different monitors or positions. Probably issues with Windows and video drivers, but just an annoyance for me since the remote still works.

Anyone else having problems with MC losing focus on resume?

Resuming has worked without problems for me since I build up my rig. I tried to provoke the issue. It seems not to be focus issue why the remote is not responding after resume as I thought earlier.  It looks like the Imon software is not responding for about 20 seconds to any remote commands. I can command with the mouse during that time or wait until it becomes responsive again. I will uninstall the plugin again and see if the behavior persists.

Different workaround for the resume issue, which might fix that unresponsiveness.

Something was wrong with the forums yesterday. At first, the upload was erroring out. Then, it seemed to work, but must have corrupted it. Try this one.

Hello Millst,
Any chance to get playing time and remaining time working in the second line of the display for your plugin?
It's on my Christmas wish list  ;)

Almost spent some time on it last weekend, but got caught up with other things. Maybe this weekend. Haven't been very motivated about 64-bit JR since Aeon doesn't work :(

Hello millst,
it shows playing time and total time of the file, this is working fine for me! But scrolling of the title seems to be broken with this build. It is jumping back and forth now.
Formerly when the title was scrolled to the end it started again left aligned then scrolling. Is it possible to have it kind of endless scrolling? I mean when the text scrolls out to the left it will enter again from the right side of the screen. Would make the text even more "in a flow". But this is just a personal taste.
Thanks for the effort!

I think this will fix the scrolling issue. The scrolling behavior could be changed. The current method is based on what the LCD version does.

Latest version 1.10 has fixed the scrolling issue.
Thanks again!
For the scrolling behavior it is your decision, I don't know how much work it is. Implement it as a selectable option? This is just fine tuning for a well working plugin now.

First i wanna thank for the help with this display plugin.

Great work.

I have one little issue found in actual version.

If i play an playlist, then the interpret and titel in first line will not change when the next song starts. it takes sometimes nearly the hole song before the display actual this.
The time in second line is changing with the next song, thats ok. But first line Titel and interpret dont change.

When i jump forward to next track or back to restart or track before by skip function, it changes like the second line immediately.

First of all, a big THANK YOU for your great iMon display solution and the not so easy update to 64-bit. If I understand it correctly you managed the MC 64-bit to iMon 32-bit conversion with a socket to a helper "service". A really creative solution.

I still have some ideas about what could be altered:

While playing, the first line scrolls artist: title until the last character of title has scrolled out, like having 15 blanks after title. Then it restarts left-justified with artist. As the first letters of artist scroll out immediately, it is difficult to read the artist name. It might be easier to read if you add some spaces at the beginning too.

In the second line there are h:mm:ss/h:mm:ss. In the 32-bit version, if I remember correctly, it was something like nn/nn h:mm/h:mm. Is there a possibility to bring back the title number?

When idle, just the time is displayed centered in the first line. Here it would be helpful if the position of the time changes sporadically. This could prevent burn-in. (My display unfortunately already has several pixels with reduced brightness.)

As I am a software developer too, I could assist you in realizing this wish list, if you like.

Thanks, but one correction. I had nothing to do with the 32-bit version for the two-line VFD. I don't even have that one. I have the one-line VFD with lots of status icons.

However, I'm providing some basic capability for that display since they both are managed through the same library. Unfortunately, the API is completely different so you'll have to set your expectations low. Not having that display limits testing, leading to trial and error, for not much benefit [to me]. I'm not even using 64-bit since the visualization plugin I use is still broke.

Are you sure it's burn-in? Burn-in usually means image retention, which isn't a big thing with LCD. Not stuck pixels?

The VFD Display we have burns in.

But this means not that you get ghostsings on display like with old plasma tvs for example,  by vfd display.the single dot elements getting older.  How older the get the brightness gets lower.

So you see words in display which letters individual bright shine.

The problem will be,  is the pc in idle and shows the clock most time of the day, those vfd elements who show the clock will older much faster then the others and shine more and more lower then the others.

By the way,  don't know where you all located, but on ebay there is an dealer from poland who sells new displays.  He also has the 2 line  16 letter displays.   They can be changed one by one.  I do this twice till now.   One display costs about 18 euro.

I post a link later.

Is this the right display:

US: VFD 2x16-H-BG-5V (HD44780) Vacuum Fluorescent (VFD-AC-1602H-BG-5V)
EU: VFD 2x16-H-BG-5V (HD44780) Vacuum Fluorescent (VFD-AC-1602H-BG-5V)
Should not be a problem from Germany.

PS I have an Origen ae S14V case with a VF310 display module.

Congratulations for your LCD display.

At begin it was only for 32bit. After mc64bit releases millst works on an 64bit version, the downloadlink for 32 must be somewhere in this thread or in this forum.

Best is use forum search and search for imon display, then you will find some threads and somewhere is the download.

Look what Display you have, vfd ( normaly 2 lines each 16 characters) or lcd (with symbols for record, disc and so on)

I have the version 1.3 (suppose is the latest 32bit version) installed. And apparently the correct imon version. The problem appears when I make the plug in visible in the mc24 services options.

Hmm that's curious.   When you have the 32bit plugin then it should run normaly.  But i believe to remember that i had also some problems with this plugin long ago  efore i change to 64bit.   I found then one version who works.

I will have a look on my NAS if I have this version and if yes I post an link tomorrow.
Do you have vfd or LCD?

I think no, theres no further development since long time.

It was big luck that mills made an 64bit version.

Sounds good that it works now, i havent the 32bit programms found on my pc or nas.

The original version I created should continue to work fine for 32-bit versions of MC. I've moved on to the 64-bit version and have no plans on making updates to the 32-bit version, sorry.

Regardless, I know of no interface in MC that provides information about the current menu selection so I could not add that functionality anyway.

Thanks for the reply! Apparently all versions that include the .ini file configuration produce this funny error. A bit of googling hints that the problem may be something as simple as non-initialization of variables.

Since you have no plans of fiddling with the 32bit code, I would be really happy if you could post your sources so that maybe I (or somebody else...) could look into this and provide support.

AFAIK, the 32-bit version functions fine (I only migrated to 64-bit MC in the past 3 months) and this is just a configuration issue. Please send me the entire stack trace.
