Search Box Causing Crash
« on: April 05, 2011, 05:55:26 am »

I've been getting relatively consistent crashes when searching via the search box, for quite a few versions of 16 now. I haven't seen any other topics about this, so I'm guessing this is unique to my setup somehow.
-It happens when using the search box but not the search wizard.
-I also get crashes when using Play Doctor (as PD is searching for files).
-I've set all of my fields back to non-relational fields (after guessing that could be the problem).

That's all I've deduced at this point. Any thoughts? Ideas for test? etc?

Thanks,
JB

Do you see the list of suggestions before it crashes?  I wonder if a popup blocker could cause this.

Which skin are you using?  Did you try another?

Please watch this thread:

I may combine this one with it.

Thanks for the library.

I can reproduce a crash on XP when typing multiple words where the second word is a single letter.  I'll follow-up with more information tomorrow.

I haven't been able to get a crash typing in the search box or using Play Doctor.  Is there a particular string or sequence I should follow to get a crash?

Thanks.

Coming in 16.0.64:
Fixed: The fuzzy match search engine could crash in certain cases (used by the search box, Play Doctor, etc.).

Sorry for the trouble.

I see a crash when searching for "to be replaced".

It works fine if the view had a smallish number of files (1,000) but consistently crashes when the view has a large number of files (250,000).

Updating from 16.0.60 to 16.0.64 fixed this crash.
