How to get Media Import dialog to appear directly?
« on: April 19, 2011, 06:24:52 pm »

Sometimes File, Library, Import brings up the Media Import dialog immediately, but other times it brings up an panel that gives the dialog only if a click a link inside a certain number of seconds.

Can anyone tell me how to avoid that panel i.e. get the Media Import dialog always to appear immediately?

Thanks.

Maybe a disk is spinning up?

Maybe a disk is spinning up?

Surely that doesn't take the 18 seconds MJ is announcing:

That's the initial import for a library that is empty.  Set the import options and let it import some files.

As far as I know, that message should show up only when you have a new empty library and the program is about to start scanning the hard drive(s) automatically. The timer makes possible to prevent the automatic import from starting if the user wants to configure the import options manually.

I don't know why you are seeing it. Did you actually clear the library?

EDIT, Jim posted while I was writing my reply...

Sure. Still I'd like to avoid the annoyance.

Yes, sure. I have to frequently clear the library to avoid bugs such as http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=61041.msg412189#msg412189 .

If you clear your library, what you see is expected behavior.  Sorry.

You seem to be importing playlists into MJ, then editing them outside MJ, and expecting them to be updated inside MJ.  I don't think that will work, and I believe you pretty much have proven that.

OK, so is there at least some way of passing that dialog using the keyboard?

Not at all.

I am importing a large set of playlists into MJ, updating (inc. adding to/removing from) the set outside MJ, then reimporting the set into MJ. Unfortunately that leaves MJ holding orphans for those deleted.

I find no sure workaround except Clear Library. Do you?

FTR, one workaround on MC18 is to first delete all the playlists from the library, then apply workaround 4 here http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=77794.msg528579#msg528579 the proceed with the reimport.

If anyone has a better one, please do say.
