« on: April 27, 2011, 05:13:17 pm »

I had to reformat my computer and now I have to install jriver from scratch.

I did this many years ago and have forgotten how to do some settings.

I have in theater view tree Videos Movies then on the rights side Categories, sub categories, Genre.

My problem is I have forgotten how to make a rule to sort the movies by name.

Can you help?

I had installed the new 75 version but on playing with the rules it keeps crashing.

Cheers

Can you provide details about what can cause a crash?

Not sure Jim, I have reinstalled 75 and it seems ok. thanks for the reply

While I have got you is there a way to save your settings?
And have I got this right, if I use Media server PVD has to be on the same machine

Thanks

I do not know about PVD, but I do know that most settings and views should be stored in the backup. So, if you restore this on a fresh JRMC16 install, the sorting should be in order. If not, go to Options, Theater View, Select your view and then add the sorting you want. If you have badly configured video codecs, the program might behave bad as well. Make sure you have some codec pack like CCCP or something before you try to play more videos. You can also turn on logging (under help?), so you can investigate and figure out the reason for the crash.

Thanks for the reply.

I was trying to set up Media Server but it appears that the Media Server has to be on all the time (obviously) to serve the clients.

Problem is I use the HTPC for that library but I do all my edits, PVD extra on the office machine.

If PVD has to be on the Server machine then it defeats my purpose.
