Sound from DVD film goes thru PC speakers not thru HiFace
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:39:33 am »

Hi

I have my audio system set up via HiFace/Wasapi Event Style for bit-perfect play on JRMC16.0.101, Win7 64bit, exclusive mode. This works good for music played from my PC: either from files or from CD Audio discs

However, when i play DVD film, the sound goes thru the PC speakers, not thru my audio setup.
In Video options, My "Playback device" is "Same as device used in audio playback", and "Connection type" is "PCM".
In File Types options, DVD Video "Playback method" is "Automatic", and "Audio Decoders" is "Automatic".

What should I do to have sound from DVD film go thru Hiface and my stereo system instead of PC speakers?

Thanks

Try build 103 from the top of this board.

Set your audio option in Video to the actual device.

In Video options, choose Red October.  Read a little about it on this board.

Thanks Jim for the reply

My update on the issue (using now the build .111, Standard Red October):
--Indeed it seems the stability is better when setting the HiFace device directly as audio playback in Video options rather than "Same as device used in audio playback".
--It also seems that switching to ASIO4ALL as the audio output mode for my HiFace helped a lot. With WASAPI Event Style, I have been experiencing frequent problems with DVDs: uneven flow of video (video accelerating rapidly and then slowing down - esp. just after starting a new piece of video) or audio cracks/distortions.

So currently I am using ASIO4ALL and "Same as device used in audio playback" - so far so good.
