LAV Source Splitter Subtitle Settings
« on: June 30, 2011, 04:07:59 am »

Can we have the LAV source splitter subtitles setting made usable?  Presently they can be accessed but settings are not stored after change.  I specifically would like to have the option 'Forced Subtitles Only'

The LAV filter subtitle function works perfectly outside of MC 16.  Presently subtitles need to be manually switched on & off in spite of make MC 16 settings being setup.

Could you describe what settings you have in Options > Video > Subtitles & Language?

Also, what is the particular problem?  Is it that you're not getting forced subtitles?

Thanks.

Here are my settings

Red October HQ Version 16.0.123
Show subtitle only if selected subtitle language is different from audio language
Default language :English
Default audio language: English

File Format .MKV HD (Ripped BD)

The result is that all subtitles are shown regardless of language.  I believe that part of the problem is that the LAV filter does not have forced subtitle checked but I suspect the interface is not communicating with LAV.

If I watch an English language film with English subtitles, presently the film will play showing subtitles which of course I hope you agree it should not.  Sorry my reference to 'Forced' subtitles is a little misleading as I discovered later that  just standard subtitles is broken.

And i was about to post about it. Well i have the exact opposite problem.

I'm watching movies and tv-shows with english audio and their respective subtitles in Greek language, having the same filename on the same folder as the video file.

Now, no matter what options i choose in  "Options > Video > Subtitles & Language", i cannot force the subtitles to show by default on playback start. I have to manually set subtitles > on everytime.

EDIT: My settings under subtitles:

I suspect that all the issues are the result of the LAV Splitter not receiving the correct information or indeed any information.  If you play the film and then look at Direct Show Filters>LAV Source Splitter I'm guessing that the language entries are blank!

We are up to release 126 and the forced subtitle issue is still not resolved :(

Can we please please get this fixed so that I can finally start using MC16 instead of MCP-HC

Unless someone can prove different, this is a real bug. Graph studio works fine with the very same filters setup correctly.

Please let me know if additional information is required.

Thank you for the acknowledgement.

I was beginning to think I was alone on this issue.

Beamer, no, you are not alone at all, but all seem to have different wishes :)

We now convert everything quickly into MKV containers and that does the trick for us

Hopefully the problems with MKV file subtitles will be fixed with 16.0.129.

Please let us know how you fare once the build is available.
