All Files??
« on: May 28, 2002, 06:54:34 pm »

If I press all files, it shows total files 194, duration 13.27, size 2.8gb
artist/album shows             total files 888, duration 54.08, size 3.8gb (888 is correct)

I've had this for a long while and forgotten to query it in the past - anyone got any thoughts???

Hi Jim - sorry, forgot about the info. It's been there for a while, pretty much since 8 came out but I kept forgetting to post it - apologies . I had assumed it was something I was doing wrong rather than a bug.

Hey Jim,

What do you mean by "press all files"?

Where are you pressing, and where is it showing the total files, etc.?

Thanks.

I guess your in Ver 7
"All Files" is dead.  Or nearly.
There is no "All Files" in Ver8.

I think that one of the reason that "All Files" was done away with was because it reported statistics in a way that disagreed with other elements of the tree.
For instance if you have an album, as I do, called "unknown" then in "All Files" that one album.
But of course in artist/album mode I have "Dean Martin - Unknown", "Nina Simone - Unknown" etc. - that's more than one album.
See? Anomalous.  But Correct.
Having said that, your numbers seem more wacked than just that would account for.
Upgrade to V8 - and give up your frivilous desire for useful statistical reporting.

Can't You Get That Now In MJ8? With Better Reporting?

I just tried it.

'All Files' is in the tree under Media Library. If I left click on it, the stats come up at the bottom. If I right click and select stats, the same figures come up in the stats box.

I'm running ver 2.0.285.

Jim, try deleting the all files you have under the Media Library tree.  I think it's an artifact of something from a while ago.  Shouldn't be there.

Hey JollyJim,

what you are describing is just a view scheme that you(?)called "All files". Check what you have as a rule in that view scheme (right click->Edit view scheme)... maybe you are filtering out something. In case you do not know those view scheme are completely customizable according to your preferences. The stat menu operates on the whole library so that will tell you the correct total all the time

You're right - it had a selection criteria of '~d=mct' (What does that select - I have'nt got to grips with all this clever stuff yet) Thanks for your help.

JimH
Problem solved - I've deleted it. I've also got a problem with the Inland Revenue so I'm gonna delete them also !!! Thanks for your help
