Controlling MC remotely?
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:11:21 pm »

I am running the current MC on a few machines in my home, but sometimes I would like to "connect" to the livingroom system with MC running in another room. Can I use MC to "connect" to a running MC on another machine and manage/control it just as if I were in front of the livingroom system? I know about the web interface, and yes thats fine but I would also like to use the actual MC to do this. I have also successfully used Gizmo to connect remotely with my Android phone.

Run Media Server (including Liberary Server) on the server.  Generate an Access Key there (Tools/Options/Media Network).

Connect to it from the client.  Playing Now/Playing From/[Server Name]/Load Library.

The above is the same whether you're playing locally or on the server.

To play on the server, click on it under Playing Now, or drag files to it there.

Note that Playing Now has two sections, one for sources, and one for destinations.
