Remove main items from tree

Is it possible to remove some of the main items from the browsing tree on the left? Currently I have audio, images, documents, playing now, playlists, drives & devices and services & plugins. I don't use some of these and they clutter the menu - how do I remove them?

Tools/Options/General/Features

In the plug-in manager, you can also remove some services by choosing to "hide" them.

I can't seem to remove the scheduler, downloads or media network plugins that appear in the tree node "Services & Plug-ins". I would like to remove this node entirely. Is this possible?

The options I gave you are the only ones I know.

If you want a "clean" interface, you could try Theater View.  It can be customized.
