Gizmo - not compatible with the selected server.
« on: October 21, 2011, 02:12:00 am »

Hi Guys,

Don't know if this is your end or mine, but am trying to run Gizmo via 17.20 and getting a message advising it's not compatible with the selected server, to upgrade to at least version 15.0.164.

Cheers,

Justin.

When will latest Gizmo be available in Android market, for those of us locked down by AT&T?  I get same error, but cannot install apps outside of android market.

Thanks in advance.

Just to verify, have you already gone to Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources (allow installation of non-market apps) ? (I have no idea of what AT&T locks down...) -JB

AT&T locks lots of their phones and prevents sideloading.

Please try the market again in a few minutes.  I just published a new version that works with MC17.

Please try the market again in a few minutes.  I just published a new version that works with MC17.

I just checked out Market.android.com Gizmo page - looks like Gizmo is already 10K-50K download range!

By the way, the screenshots there are very outdated (shows WebPlay actually). The newer interface is much more slicker and usable.

Thanks,
Osho

Thanks JimH.  The new version in the market seems to work fine.  Pretty cool.

Yep, AT&T locks the phones down so you can only install directly from android market.  No sideloading, no Amazon app store, etc.

...and here I was all cranky just because I couldn't uninstall the Verizon junkware that came pre-installed on my phone.

Root of phone (if possible) and Cyanogenmod ROM are your best friends. Couldn't stand all that HTC bloatware on my Desire HD...
