Probably.  We'll know in a few days.

Gizmo won't be in the Market, but you can probably install it from the web page:

It can, but the lack of HW buttons on the Fire limit function in some cases.  That said, Gizmo is pretty darn cool - well done!

Thanks.  So Gizmo is working on the Fire?

There are some software controls in Gizmo.

Yep.  No issues (besides the usability/hw controls thing) so far.  I haven't had a chance to dig in deep, but I'm enjoying everything (especially background music streaming) I've found so far.

Please keep us updated, I'm very interested in this.

Anybody else using this yet?

I am confused by how to install GIZMO to a Kindle Fire HD, the app is not available from the store on the kindle and when I tried to download it from a web search to the JRiver install site it didn't appear anywhere on the Kindle. What should my procedure be since to me until Amazon adds JRiver Gizmo as an app there is not a lot you can do. All I require is to be able to use my Kindle as a remote control for my WIN7 based MC18 music server.

In our Gizmo topic on our wiki, there is an "alternate install" method.

Are there any plans to develop a Kindle version of the normal Gizmo remote control app as the 'alternative method' is very glitchy as it seems to rely on a permanent weblink. This definitely doesn't work as smoothly as the normal Gizmo.

when you say permanent weblink im assuming your pointing out that this APK will install but not be linked your Kindle app market and therefore not receive updates? if that's the case, it would explain why the solution seems a bit glitchy as there have been tremendous improvements in Gizmo usability over time. if you need some help making sure you have exhausted all the exisiting workarounds for non-rooted Kindle, drop me a PM.

re: a Kindle version - if i had to guess, the effort to have a Amazon Kindle compliant version wouldn't be worth it but hey what do i know ^ ^

I have now managed to get Gizmo working properly. The problem seemed to be finding the download. I downloaded the file through Silk and within settings, device   set 'allow installation of applications'  to 'ON'

Then within Silk's dropdown menu you can find downloads and run the application from there. Save to home page and all is working fine.

I hope that helps some other.
