Any way to see track/album dynamic range?
« on: January 25, 2012, 03:36:32 pm »

In media centre I can get a rather general idea of the dynamic range of a track by viewing the replay gain values under analyse audio, although I understand this is really just a calculation of 'average track volume'. Is there a plug-in or a way to create a custom field based around the replay gain track info? Ie I have the rage against the machine album both in mp3 and in 96k 24bit flac, the flac copy has a replay gain value of about 7db less than the mp3 version. Obviously the HD flac version is a much better master something that isn't generally obvious unless you listen to the two or compare their respective replay gain values.

What I'm looking for here is some way in which I can easily scroll through and have an indication as to how dynamic albums or tracks within an album are for a particular artist at a glance.

If you register here: http://www.dynamicrange.de/

You will get access to a dynamic range measurement program that can batch process music files offline.

I just added the results to my music files in a comment tag.

This should be a feature of MC as part of "Analyze Tracks"
