Convert audio formats on the fly?
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:44:25 am »

Hello -

I have the need to convert from .flac to .wav or .wmalossless on the fly for playback, while keeping the original flac file unchanged/intact.  Is this possible?

Thanks for any help.

All formats are converted to PCM (called decoding) during playback.

Well when I playback to an xbox 360 media center extender as a zone, .flac files are not played,  whereas .wmalossless and .mp3 files are played correctly.

So my hope was to somehow get the xbox360 to believe it was playing one of the compatible formats (like .wma or .mp3).

Playing to a DLNA zone is something else entirely.

Details are important.

I'm still hoping someone can answer the question.  Can you convert playback formats on the fly whether it be to a normal zone or to a dlna zone?

Thanks for any help.

I don't have one of those myself, so I don't know the details for sure, but do the options here work?

Options -> Media Network -> Client Options -> Audio Conversion

You can specify conversion for a DLNA server in Options > Media Network.

Or just add the stock Xbox 360 server profile, which will convert audio as needed.
