When did folder and file name length limits shrink?

I recently discovered that during a "Rename, Move & Copy Files..." operation that MC17 wanted to truncate a lot of my previously valid folder and file names.

WHY?

These folder and file names were generated by previous versions of MC! I've used the same name patterns forever.

Example:
A previous version of MC generated this folder name based on album name:
"You Ain't Heard Nothin' Yet_Merry Christmas from Jackie Wilson"
MC 17 wants to rename it to:
"You Ain't Heard Nothin' Yet_Merry Christmas from Jackie Wils"

Is this something that MC did in this version? Could it be something that Win7 is mandating whereas WinXP did not (I got a new 'puter)? And bottom line, can I set some option to have MC17 generate folder and file names like it used to?

It's a long story, but it fixes another problem.  Are you using the latest build available?

I'm on 17.0.82

I'm not sure I've ever experienced the problem that this solution fixes, but you guys made your Sophie's Choice and I guess I'll just have to live with it  >:(

17.0.85 is at the top of this board.  There was a minor fix for a similar problem.

OK, thanks, I'll wait for the next stable build that includes this fix and see if it helps.
