Video - Playing Now, Bottom Screen Menu Problem
« on: February 14, 2012, 04:44:35 am »

The menu that appears at the bottom of the screen during video playback when the up & down keys are pressed isn't working properly for me. I get headings such as 'Aspect Ratio' but no information below that. I can use it to make changes but it's a shot in the dark.

The progress and volume bars do appear.

This has actually been an issue for quite some time now for me.

That's called the OSD (On Screen Display).  The wiki has a topic on it.

This sounds like a bug recently reported and fixed (in build 83) for the Subtitles item in the OSD. Before that was fixed, only the first line with the 'Subtitles' heading appeared, and subtitles could only be selected using the context menu. I've never seen anything but the Subtitles menu affected.

What version are you using?

I'm using version .85.

It's been a long time problem that I have meant to deal with.

What types of files are you playing?

Does the right-click 'Window' menu on a playing video list aspect ratio options with proper text?  Do they work?

Any type of video file I watch, including TV, Avi's & MKV's are the same.

Right clicking works fine for me. But it's not just aspect ratio, it's all of the OSD options. For example the 'playing now' heading gives no other information or text then 'playing now'.

What skin are you using?  Does Noire work any differently?

What if you adjust the font size in Options > Tree & View > Font?

The font was the problem, though not the size. I had set the font to arial and when I switched it to verdana today, the OSD worked again.

I'd ignored the problem for so longand it was so simple to fix.  ::)

Many thanks!
