Problem Upgrading MC-15 to MC-17
« on: March 07, 2012, 04:27:53 pm »

I currently have MC-15.0.173 running on a dedicated Music Server running Windows-7 with NO INTERNET CONNECTION. The software is registered on this PC and this is indicated by the program. Everything works fine!

I purchased MC-17, Download File: 17-170378.

The download was received on my business PC that has an internet connection. I then copied the MC file to a portable HD so I could copy it to my Music Server PC just like I did with MC-15. However, when I click the file to upgrade, a window opens that states, "Error Restoring Media Center License: Unkown Error.

I'd greatly appreciate a step-by-step, detailed solution to this problem!

Thanks,
Joe

Did you install MC17 first?

Then double click on the Install Key from Explorer.   The Purchase link above has information about how to save an Install Key.  It should have a .mjr extension.  Some browsers mangle the extension.

Hi Jim:

Thanks for the quick reply!

No, I did not isnstall MC-17 first. As I mentioned in my posting, I currently have MC-15.0.173 installed and I want to upgrade to MC-17.

I downloaded this file from your site but I cannot open it: Media Center17-170378.mjr

when I click the file to upgrade, a window opens that states, "Error Restoring Media Center License: Unkown Error.

Thanks,
Joe

First install Media Center 17.

It's here:
http://www.jriver.com/download.html

Then install your license.
