Custom video mode question - how to access ROHQ filters?
« on: May 11, 2012, 08:47:31 am »

I want to use the Red October HQ mode filters but to have them accessible/configurable. Selecting Advanced/Custom mode and "start with the following settings: ROHQ" results in ROHQ mode: the LAV filters are used, but still auto-configured and not accessible. I thought Custom mode prevented auto-configuration.  ?

Even if I enter a rule with LAV Video for example, ffdshow shows up instead. The same thing happens in Windows merit mode.

Thanks, haven't tried it yet but this addresses the problem. It'd still be nice to have the RO/manually installed filters mismatch issue resolved.

I agree - Advanced>Custom should let you play around in the settings. If you mess up you can just go back to the Default RO-STD/HQ and all is well again.

You could just register the LAV version that is inside MC17's plugin folder, then MC17 would upgrade it for you and you still get access to the settings.

How does one register the embedded version?

This is strange. DVBViewer for example, does 'see' the LAV Filters installed by MC and can use them. It's weird MC itself cannot use them in any way other than 'auto-configured'.

The filters used by Red October are only used by Red October and not by Windows.

If you want to use filters manually, you can install anything you want without fear of interfering with RO.

A couple of application I've tried, have no trouble using the LAV Filters installed by MC. (LAV not manually installed)

I've manually installed the LAV Filters but again, MC always auto-configures them (in Custom mode), disallowing access to its properties.

I've found out that selecting Custom mode, then RO Standard with the manual addition of LAV and madVR in the rules, will work fine. LAV properties are accessible, even without installing LAV outside of MC.

...however, the recent decision to pass hardware deinterlacing to madVR causes problems again.

It seems all deinterlacing options in the LAV properties have no effect - only YADIF works.

I'll say it again here, madVR's hardware deinterlacing in lower-end cards (which are otherwise perfectly up to the task) seems problematic.
