I am testing trial version of jriver17 on Windows 7. After loading music to library, when trying to send it to the device, either the program and the device display the name of the track, but the device doesn't play it. JRiver shows that song is being played, but only for 5 seconds, because after this time it suddenly stops "playing" and starts to play it again. This happens over and over again. This problem concerns only FLAC files and doesn't occure while playing mp3. Please tell me how to configure jriver17 and Windows 7 to fix it. And also which operating system (x32 or x64) would you suggest to use to get the best quality of playing music using jriver17?

Welcome to the forum.

Are you using DLNA?  It sounds like the device doesn't support FLAC.

Playing in the same way works with MP3.  Is that correct?

The device supports FLAC, I can load FLAC files directly to the device and play it, and then it works fine, but when I try to play it by sending them to the device using  jriver, described situation occurs. And yes, playing mp3 the same way works good.

But is it DLNA you're using?  More details could be helpful.

The device does support DLNA

Are you using their app?  It's listed here:
http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/hifi-components/cd-players/np-s2000/?mode=model

It says at the bottom of the page that a firmware update may be required.

What do you know about the FLAC files?  Did you use MC to rip to FLAC?  If not, try that.

Converted using Easy CD-DA extractor. What's the difference? I mean, FLAC is FLAC, and the device itself plays it without any problems, the problem is that jriver doesn't send it properly to the device.

Edit: I haven't written that, but to clarify i add, that jriver also plays these FLACs without problems. The problem appears, when i want to SEND music to my device, so I believe, that there isn't any problem with the FLAC files. Both, the device and jriver can play those files separately, the problem is in communication between jriver and the device.

Try reading the topic on DLNA on our wiki.

Your controller is telling the Yamaha to request the files from our server (if I understand correctly what you're doing).

If it works for MP3, but not for FLAC, then there could be a failure anywhere.

Your device doesn't support all bitrates and samplerates.  That's why I asked about the source.   Bitrate and samplerate can vary.  What are yours?

In MC's options for Media Network, find the server and check your conversion settings.

Ok, I changed encoder from mp3 to uncompressed, now it works well! Thanks for your help.
