Problem: Onkyo NR-609 receiver sees but cannot connect to DLNA server
MC Version: 17.147, 17.160
OS: Win7 SP1, up to date
AV: MS Security Essentials
Receiver firmware: current as of today (xxxx180)
Sequence of events:
* Version 16.181 installed. DLNA server working, Onkyo can connect
* Upgraded to 17.147
* Uninstalled 16
* Rebooted
* Start MC 17, Enable Generic DLNA
* Onkyo NR-609 receiver sees the Generic DLNA, but hangs at "Connecting..." (never see folders or lists). Requires receiver power off to unfreeze.
* Upgraded to MC 17.160, reboot
* Windows Firewall TURNED OFF; media streaming enabled
* Confirm DLNA servers running (total of 5 servers in the Summary, including DLNA Renderer, Subscription, and Server; ports 52100, 52199, 1900, 52102, 52101)
* Onkyo behaves similarly, hangs at "Connecting..."
* Enable/disable DLNAExtra, Flat/full URL, WMC compatible without affect
* Uninstall MC 17, reboot
* Reinstall MC 16. Onkyo connects normally.
* Installed MC 17.x on another computer. Onkyo cannot connect
* Onkyo connects fine to Windows Media on both computers
There has always been a significant level of dysfunction in MC 16 in the ability of MC to serve the Onkyo, such as the folder menu has to be specially configured to enter the various categories/folders, slow to switch between and load tracks, and much more. But with MC 17, there is simply no connection. The Onkyo does not offer any configuration.
Windows Media 12 streams perfectly and effortlessly every time. It is shame that MC is simply not useable in 17, and close to unusable in 16, in the current configuration.
Any ideas? This seems similar to a recent post using a different model of Onkyo.
