I have MC playing with Direct Sound Out put but don't get any sound with using any other output type, ASIO, WASPI, or WASPI-Event Type.  I don't believe its a driver issue because the driver I am using was working on my XP lap top.  My new lap top is windows 7 SP1.  Set up is as follows:

Windows:
-General tab: Berkeley Alpha USB interface as default
-Enhancements: Set to disable enhancements
-Level:Volume set to 100%
-Advanced tab: 16 bit, 48000 hz
--allow applicationst to take exclusive control
--give exclusive mode apps priority
 
MC
Audio Output: WASPI Event Type - No sound
Buffering - middle position
DSP Studio - no settings checked,
Prebuffering 2 seconds
Switched tracks 0.1s

A driver that worked on XP may not work on Win7.  Did you try looking for updated drivers for your device?

Can you use the tests you find in Control Panel / Sounds to play to the device?  You can read about this here:

By the way, it's WASAPI, not WASPI.

An obvious one: if your DAC doesn't come with ASIO support, ASIO won't work.
Check if the Berkely supports ASIO.

In general WASAPI-event style is your best bet in case of a USB audio compliant DAC.
In DSP studio > Output format set the bit depth to 24

If the DAC supports UAC1 ( max sample rate 96 kHz) only convert any sample rate > 96 to 96
If it also supports UAC2 ( > 96 kHz) you don't need to convert but then the DAC comes with a USB audio driver for Win.

I have no sound in either Direct or WASAPI Event Type.  Per guidance provided I have checked for other drivers that may be overridding my USB converters driver.  I have just disabled all the Sound drivers including the laptop's built in speakers driver, an Intel driver, one for the built in camera.  It was playing sound for a second out of Window's Event Type before it would cut off, now nothing.  Any detailed items to look at would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you try playing from Windows Control Panel/Sounds.  Does that work?

If so, then set MC to the same audio device in MC's Audio options.

Control Panel > Device manager: do you see the driver and is it without error message?

De-install the driver, re-install with “Run as Administrator”

Other USB port, there are some issues reported using USB3 ports.
Use the device manager to check if you are using a different internal USB hub
