Customising
« on: September 02, 2012, 02:36:33 am »

Hello all,

I have lost all my settings and have to revisit customizing views etc.

I had the pane view in standard but have forgotten how to also have panes in the bottom half.

I download a lot of TV and need to put them in somehow.

Does anyone have an easy way of marking things as watched.

I used to have MNew and Mwatched in my settup but I have forgotten how.

Help please anybody.

It sounds like you've lost your library and programs installed? Did you do a backup? This is done automatically as well. Question is if you kept those backup on another drive. Becuase it sounds like your disk gave up? If you restore this backup with settings, there should be little to fix. Try this first. If that can not be done, we'll try to help you out.

That will probably make you learn to take backups on secondary disks now? :)

You start of by importing everything.
Then you can create a new library field with an expression like: "=[Number Plays]"
When you change the number in this new library field, the Number Plays field will also be updated.

If you get sound in two channels instead of for instance 5, then you have not entered the correct settings in the DPS Studio. Choose Output format and select the numbers of channels you wish for the output.

What second section? Are you talking about the bottom half of the horizontal split? I don't know if that's possible. I don't get that option here. Only left, right and top position.
You can try your self. Right click a view and Customize. There's a Pane option there.

I know the feeling. I used to reinstall the HTPC a 1-2 times each year in the past. That was not a fun task before the settings backup was introduced :)

Hi again,

Still busy fixing my rules but one has me stumped.

In theater view I have used shows for my downloaded TV series.

When I look at the episode they all have names but just in case one is out of order how can I see the episode number?

I am sure that before I lost everything it was under the episode name.

So in the theater view setup, where you set ITEMS TO SHOW, under DETAILS where you add fields, if you add an expression

Episode - [Episode]

as the last item, it should show the episode name.

it may look like this in the DETAILS area

Series
Season
Expression

One way to do it.... I am sure there are better...

You can also change the Theater View Caption under Options, Theater View, Advanced.

Here's an example of what I use today. This example is from back in the day when Media Sub Type was not present, or did I just change it to reflect the new changes? I'm not sure. Anyway... The Consert and Standup values are not a Media Sub Type. But as I'm at work now, I have no good tools of removing those without messing up the expression. It does not hurt to have them there in any case. It will just not be used.

Code: [Select]
If(IsEqual([Media Type], Audio),[Name] - [Artist] - /([Album]/)   //   Rating: [Rating],If(IsEqual([Media Sub Type], TV Show),If(IsEmpty([Name]),S[Season]E[Episode]/ (NP:[Number Plays]/),S[Season]E[Episode]/ (NP:[Number Plays]/) - [Name]),If(IsEqual([Media Sub Type], Music Video),If(IsEmpty([Artists]),[Artist] - [Name],[Artists] - [Name]),If(IsEqual([Media Sub Type], Conserts),[Artist] - [Name],If(IsEqual([Media Sub Type], Standup),If(IsEmpty([Season]),[Name]/ (NP:[Number Plays]/),[Name] - S[Season]E[Episode]/ (NP:[Number Plays]/)),[Name])))))
This gives you a much better caption for TV Shows and Music Videos imo. Movies are not mentioned, and will therefor use the standard [Name] expression. This reminds me again what a hell it is to edit and create such Expressions. I pray for a better expression manager in MC, or separation of caption expressions for different media types.
