Xbox 360
« on: September 13, 2012, 05:44:19 pm »

Hello,

Don't know if this is the right section but here's my question.

I can see all my movies on JRiver through my xbox 360 but it only gives me the title of the movie.
How can I have it display artwork and description for the movie?

I have tried WMC and Plex through my xbox with both showing my the description and the dvd artwork.

Thanks for all your help.

You are in the right place :)

When you use Windows media center though the extender you are using a different method of accessing the content than with a uPNP server.
I'm not familiar with Plex, do you get to Plex through
Video->My Video Apps->Windows Media Center
or
Video->My Video Apps->Video Player

Interesting. And you see cover art that way? I'm going to have to give that a try...

Any update?

Can anyone help me view the cover art and metadata on my xbox360.

This software is pretty great but not worth buying if I can't get the cover art and metadata to show up on my xbox.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi bob,

Is this thread the one that triggered the PM you recently sent me? I'm not sure if my answer to that PM was helpful or sufficient. I don't have an xbox so I can't test it myself, but perhaps you can tell us what you "see they are doing" then perhaps I can be more helpful in my reply...

They are simply asking for the coverart as a parameter added to the URL for the video file resource.
The problem is that I don't see what is leading the xbox to ask that question, it won't ask it of MC for example and it will ask it of serviio.
It's not albumArtURI and it's not album art as a resource.
It's not in sinkprotocolinfo.
It might be a namespace but it doesn't look like it to me.

Have you tried playing with your HTTP Server header to make it look like a Microsoft thing?

No, but that's an interesting idea. I'll check it out in my wireshark dumps, thanks...
