It's in the View menu.

Sorry, but is not practical. You can not see the skin that will be selected. This is terrible.

Please, add the option previous: Skin Manager

It's in the View menu.

Jim, something is wrong. In my view Menu (we are talking 18.0.59 I have a list of standard and mini skins and one element that is called "skin effects".
In the still installed 17 (last build) the view menu DOES show the element called skin manager, but NOT in 18. I can change skins from the menu, but to delete a skin for example I cant, have to delete the folder in explorer.

Ideas?

You can change skins in the View > Skins menu.

I'm not opposed to bringing back something like Skin Manager, but would like to understand what problem it solves.

What advantage does the dialog have compared to the skins menu?

Also, there's the "Contact the author" link in skin manager.

In all of my skins, this points to the skin thread here at interact allowing anyone with issues or requests to easily get to the right starting point.

After I've made changes to a skin, I'd like to be able to browse to the .zip and add it to the list of installed skins.  Copying the files into a JRiver folder doesn't always work.

Getting MC 18 to load my modified iTunes skin after I installed it (MC 18), was a big pain.

How does one download & change mini-skins? There was always a link to skin downloads in View/Skins in previous Media Centers but it seems to be missing in MC18. There was always a small choice of skins for he miniiew but now the are none. I always used Amped2 for the Miniview, and I still have that skin in the MC17 Program Files but when I try and place a copy in the MC18 skins file, the Media Center shuts down.

So now I don't use the MiniView because I don't care for the only skin that's being offerred. Not good.

Matt, how does one go about adding or removing skins? This is why I would like to have it back, mainly for removing skins that I no longer want. Have tried going to the skins folder and deleting them, but they just come back when I do an update.

I'm licensed MC14 thru MC18 but I had to dump my whole C-Drive over Thanksgiving due to a virus in my Windows XP registry. I ended up losing 8 years of data and I'm now starting over with just MC18. I have no desire to download a previous Media Center for the sake having a different mini-skin, BUT it is an option.

Skin Manager isn't a necessity for me personally as I know what skin I prefer for standard viewing and it's available in the provided choice options. But the 1-only option provided for the mini viewer isn't acceptable for me and it shouldn't be acceptable for JRiver. That's what I want for Christmas,,, Santa can you hear me,,,, ;D

Well, I think interesting change, install, delete skins.

I also like the preview of the skin. Today, it is only possible to change the skin on the MC 18. I can not delete skins through the program (do not have that option). Is not that interesting.

I believe the manager skin will return. Hope never dies/Tomorrow Never Dies=007 heheheheeh

So, how do you copy the mini skins from MC17?... or should I just push for a refund for the MC18 upgrade and be happy with MC17 until someone decides to take this seriously?

Easy there... JRiver is working on some large changes to move MC to other platforms.  They had to disable this functionality for a bit to continue making progress since it tied in heavily with the Windows ecosystem.  I'm sure you'll agree that eye candy would be lower priority than sound quality and reliability.

You speak sense Mr C . . . and they did initially state that it was being removed for development reasons.

But I think this is becoming an issue simply because we have not been reassured that the Skin Manager and the various Mini View Skins will be returned after all.
Such a statement by J River staffers would quiet the gathering mob and instill additional patience in those concerned about these features.

Could it be that they are possibly working on a Linux compatible version?

A simple question, is MC 18 ever going to offer Skin Manager and a skin option for Miniview as you have done in the past and still continue to do for Standard View? It's kinda hard to pay yearly upgrade charges while losing some of the simplest MC features that we have all become accustomed to over the years.

If you have no intention of restoring these skin options, could you at least explain why? Thanks for your time, I hope.  ;D
