Restore library with different Auto-Import folder
« on: November 10, 2012, 01:50:25 am »

Hi:

Please help me with a small library setup question.

I have a newer PC and want to transfer my MC17 and its library. I have a backup of my old library from MC17 where the all music files were in C:\Music folder. This folder was also setup as auto-import folder. Now I want to restore this library backup into newer PC where all music will be in 2nd drive at D:\Music. How should I restore this library in this setup?

Regards

Restore the library as normal. All the files will show as missing as expected. To fix that check this out... http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=74060.msg502512#msg502512

Your "Find" and "Replace" values will be different, naturally, but is that enough to get you going?

Once you've fixed the file links in your library, go to "Tools > Options > Library and Folders > Configure auto-import" and fix your folder settings there.

If you need more help getting the library links fixed, just shout.

Thanks marko! I tried what you prescribed but it did not work the way you described. Find/Replace came up with zero results. In the end I just gave new path to Auto-Import and it fixed the links by itself.
