Playback stops after 2 secs playing high bitrate files
« on: December 27, 2012, 12:19:54 pm »

Hi,

I just upgraded to MC18 and have a problem playing back my highest bitrate FLAC audio tracks.  When I click to start the track, one of the following problems occurs:

- it plays a millisecond of the song then stops
- it only plays the first 2 seconds then stops
- it plays a millisecond, restarts the song, and then plays OK

The files with avg. bitrates >3000 are the ones that won't play past 2 seconds.  The ones <1000 are the ones that tend to play a blip then restart themselves OK.

Can anyone lend some help?

Thanks!

Are you using 18.0.103?

Check if you have any linked playback zones, and if so, try unlinking them.

If you have any DSP options going on, try turning them off to see if it makes a difference. (tools / options / audio / settings)

Try a different audio buffering size (tools / options / audio / output mode settings...)

Try a different output mode (wasapi event style?).

Thanks John,

It was indeed a "linked zone" issue.  As soon as I un-linked, playback resumed fine.  It seems zone 2, which is connected remotely via an Audioengine W1 wireless adapter, has some bandwidth limitations.

Thanks again!
