 I have a problem with DLNA playback on a Sony KDL40-EX650 TV. Using MC 18.104
I am using the Sony library server configuration and have set up a custom view to view recorded TV.

The problem is that when playing back recorded TV (in ts format), playback works initially, but after a short period of playback when fast forward is used, the playback stops and the message 'playback not available' is displayed on the TV. It seems to have lost the connection to the server, or MC has stopped playback. I have attached a log file of this behavior.

On a few occasions, MC has also crashed when acting as  DLNA server.

One further issue, is that after playback has stopped, and the TV reconnected, I can't playback the file that stopped. To enable playback, I have to right click on the file on MC and select 'unstack'. Is there a way to disable this creation of a stack?

I have tried 'disable setnext support', but this had no effect.
I am unable to select 'ignore transport events'. It won't stay checked

If the video Conversion Cache is enabled in "Tools / Options / File Location",  Media Center will create stacks when converting to video file types that don't stream nicely to DLNA (types other than mp4 and flv will be stacked).  To disable the stacking, select "None (do not create cache)" for the video conversion cache.

Thanks for the info, but MC is still crashing when accessing media server.

I think the crash is related to Sony devices requesting thumbnail images for multiple points within the video while fast forwarding (sometimes hundreds of these) and our server is spinning off a new conversion process for each one and running out of resources.  We need to make Media Center recognize these thumbnail requests and handle them nicely.  Thanks for the log file.

i am having a similar problem with the server disappearing after 30 minutes with no fast forward or any other kind of function. In order for the server to show up again on the tv, I have to reboot the pc. re-running the server software has no effect. I

The device I'm using is a wd live HD. it works fine with other software but yours has been the best I've tried, until now. There are alot of complex options that I'm not sure I understand. Can you help me get this so that it runs a little more stable. thanks.

Instead of rebooting the pc, does it work again if you just reboot the wd live HD?

i havent tried that but I shouldnt have to. I would expect that the server would run reliably for more than 30 minutes. There has to be something in the program that is configured wrong, or else this is a giant bug!

What John is saying is that the WD may be losing the connection or be in a confused state.  Power cycling it would tell you more.

Hi i am still having problems with jriver crashing when fast forwarding video streamed to the Sony tv. Any new suggestions?

It's not just the TV, the PS3 does the same thing with generating multiple the thumbs that MC server does not like.

If so, can a time frame be estimated?
