Experiencing freezes with MC18
« on: January 14, 2013, 11:46:59 am »

Hello,

Newbie here....Just downloaded MC18 a couple of days ago and am using it to play music on my squeezebox duets, squeezebox touch and Oppo BDP 105.  I am using the jremote and my river apps from my iphone to control MC18.  However after a few songs it freezes up on me and is uncontrollable by remote.  On my desktop, it is unresponsive as well and I have to kill the program.  I do have squeezebox server running as well.  I have enabled the log but am unsure of its location in a windows 7 machine.  I love the feel of the JRiver interface, but the constant crashing is a no-go.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Crash or freeze?

"However after a few songs it freezes up on me and ..."

What is the full version of MC?

I guess it crashes, since it is unresponsive when I click the toolbar icon to restore.  In task manager, the program is reported as 'unresponsive' and I have to forcibly 'end task' in the task manager.  My version is 18.0.106.  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, but the problem remains.

Thanks.

That's a freeze.   A crash is a sudden disappearance of the program.

Please install 18.0.112 from the top of this board.

I'd like to suggest two tests:

1) Try using only wired (if you're currently wireless).  Wireless performance in the duet and controller is not its strong suit.
2) Use Whitebear instead of LMS' built-in DLNA (and disable LMS' built-in DLNA).

I'm thinking that it may be multiple zones at once that is the problem.

Ah, I stand corrected....it is indeed a freeze and not a crash.  My primary purpose for the software is to push music to my Oppo BDP-105.  Typically,  have only a single stream going to the Oppo and this is where freezing has been occurring.  Yes, it is via wi-fi, but I am having no problems pulling music to the Oppo using the bare bones Oppo menu or streaming Netflix.  At one point I did get an error message stating that there were two servers in the start menu, one of which had to be removed.... At this point I am running Logitech music server and JRiver.  I have upgraded to the latest build and will try to push music from my desktop using my keyboard.  Then will try to use the control apps if everything works OK.

Cheers!
