Kindle HD Fire and MC?
« on: January 17, 2013, 05:36:03 pm »

Looking to see if I can get my wife's Kindle Fire HD to see the MC so she could stream movies or music. Anyone have suggestions?

Try a search or look on our Android board here.  Gizmo will run on it.

I turned DLNA on and the Kindle Fire HD sees the MC. I can follow the path to the movies folder and can see the cover art. I click play and nothing happens.

Might this be something with the file format? Any thoughts and what to try to resolve?

Try the Alternate Install method here:

Near the bottom of the page.

Follow up....

I went to the PC with MC on it and there is a window open saying there was an audio output problem and the file could not play. The audio output may not be supported by the device.

Are there sound output options for external devices (like the Kindle) that I need to either check or turn on and if so what and where?

thanks

Under Media Network options, you can set conversion.

If you can get Gizmo going, it will probably be a better experience.

Got Gizmo on her Kindle and we can tell it to play a movie on the TV but doesn't play on her Fire. Looking for either a setting or something so it will stream to her Kindle.

Is there only one conversion method that can be used at a time and if so which is ideal (if there is one)?

I looked at the conversion choices, read that Kindle Fire HD's prefer MP4 and told MC to convert to mp4-720. Right now the Kindle is telling me to wait so I assume it's talking to MC and MC is converting files?

Update:

After telling the DLNA server to concert to the mp4 720 the Fire sees the movies, I choose to play on android and it says the file format is not recognized/support and it won't play. I must be missing a setting somewhere.

Solved

Apparently I had not successfully downloaded and installed Gizmo to the Kindle. After doing it again and launch Gizmo we can now play content on the Fire.
