Install problem [Solved]

Windows 8 x64.  I downloaded the executable several times to make sure it wasn't a corrupt download.

I have Windows Defender disabled.  Here's the thing:  I was having some stability issues related to a wonky hardware driver this morning, and had a hard lock while installing the '120 update.
Afterwards, when I tried to install it, it gave the error.  I was able to download '106 stable and it installed fine, but the '120 update still won't install.  I'll do a complete uninstall, wipe the registry entries and j.river folders, and try again.

Edit:  That worked.
