Tapatalk isn't working [Solved]
« on: January 29, 2013, 03:06:15 pm »

Tapatalk on my iPhone isn't working for this forum since yesterday. It tells me to contact an administrator. Other non-JR forums are ok.

Anyone else?

Don't know what to tell you.  Tapatalk is working fine on both my Android devices (Samsung Galaxy S3 and Asus TP101).

What do you guys see in TapaTalk? I get bugged repeatedly to install it by a number of forums and it winds me up!. I've never had a problem using the full forum view on my iPad/iPhone. In fact when AVSForums decides to give me a "mobile view" on my iPad I switch it straight back to desktop view.

Its not really problems with the sites or anything, its just easier to use than the forums in a regular browser. Some plain text links are too small to tap on with clumsy fingertips, picking smileys etc. The forums open a thread on the top post. Tapatalk goes to the latest post. Simple things like that just makes it easier on a relatively small screen with just touch controls. Like some controls are always visible instead of just on the top or bottom of the page like in a browser window.

Those popups annoy the crap out of me too. Wish I could turn that off somehow. I'd like to decide for myself which forum I want in tapatalk and which not. I think in Mercury you can cheat sites to believe they are opened on a regular desktop but I've not been annoyed often enough to actually figure out how.

Thanks IM. I've never installed it because, other than to get rid of the nags, I couldn't see any value in paying for another way to see my forums! I can't believe that Apple allows an app provider to nag so relentlessly. Surely there should be a way, like notifications, to turn the nagging off!

Works fine here too.

I get a "this forum is restricting access from Tapatalk contact your administrator" error message.

It's never happened before.

+1

I installed it, tried it for like three days, and then deleted it.  It is handy, I guess, but Interact works okay on my phone as-is, and their nagging displeases me.

I totally agree with the nagging. I bought it on a whim together with a couple of other apps I thought were handy on the day I got the ipad and hadn't even seen any of their nagscreens. Things might have been different otherwise ;).

Could you check tapatalk's site?  It may be a version thing.

It's also possible something special on your machine is preventing it from working.

Raym, can you delete the app, if it asks to delete config related choose yes (this would delete all your preferences) and reinstall it.

Happened to me more than once with other apps they'd crash on opening and that trick would get them working again.

If that doesn't work, I think you need to contact Tapatalk support. If the problem would be on Jrivers' side we would all have the issue. I'm running the latest version as well.

Fair enough. Thanks, will try that.

Cool, glad you got it back in working order again!

It's usually what I try after everything else failed ;).
