I have the overindulgent habit of getting the fastest single GPU video card each new generation.

nVidia just launched the GTX Titan.  It's lots faster and uses less power than the previous best card (GTX 680).

However, the sticker price is $1000 (gasp!).  I think they cured my bad habit with that price.

Anyone else going to make the jump?  I wonder if a crazy-fast card like this would ever be of value for madVR, or is it total overkill?

Not a chance.

My GTX580 can do jinc 4; I need to make screenshots and compare side by side to be able to see a difference with lanczos 4, let alone decide whether I like better.

Not sure I will jump on it right away, I'd wait 2-3 months to let the drivers mature. However, while I think this would be way overkill for any 1080p setup, does anyone know if madVR is going to be doing anything with 4K HD or Ultra HD or 2160p HD or whatever they are calling the new HD video standard this week?  Just thinking with that much more data, there could be a need for a high end GPU (though maybe not this high end).

Two GTX 660's in SLI will almost get you the same speed for $420.

I wanted to run two passive cards in SLI but no one has been able to confirm or deny whether that would work with Madvr, not even Madshi himself.

No chance at that price and knowing a year later it will already be out done. I usually limit myself to under $700.
