Noise on CDs [solved]
« on: March 06, 2013, 05:22:54 pm »

after ripping close to 300 CDs, I discovered noise on each and every saved file - sounds like a dirt spot on vinyl, occurs regularly every second or so.  It  happens when I play a CD in either disc drive, or the music from the file,  and through MC or itunes.

One of the drives is less than a year old, and have not been used very much (not at all for music until the last month)

If it were a dirty drive, I wouldnt expect the same problem on two drives.

any ideas??

Did you use secure ripping in MC?

Are you sure it isn't a playback problem?  Play a file you know should sound correct to test.

There is a thread called "Weird Problems" (link in my signature) that has a lot of reasons for this kind of problem.  Virus checkers often do bad things.  Etc.

Yup. Output side.  Went away when I changed USB ports.
Thanks
